First Clutch

Depending on how I look at it, this is the 1st clutch or 3rd clutch for the year. First 2 clutches were not fertile. One thing about the advise of not disturbing the breeding birds appears to be quite obvious. 2 chicks were thrown out of the nest after a visit by my wife's colleagues. But then the 2 chicks that were trown out were the smaller and weaker ones. Could also be a natural instinct of the parents to weed out the weaker birds. I can only guess. One died immediately and one a few hours later. And as usual, such things normally happens when I am not around :(

But the good news for me is that 2 survived and is now being handfed. They appear strong and should survive the ordeal.... hopefully ;)

Guppies supplies

It is funny how these wild guppies are abundant but difficult to get from the shops. As an alternative, I have to become the fisherman for 10 minutes today. After a heavy downpour, a couple of friends showed me where they are in abundance. We spent maybe about 10 minutes or less and I have to rush home. We caught too many that if I don't rush home, they will perish. ;)

Next in line will be my order for catfish fries.... Which a shop claims he is able to secure. And a visit to a chicken farm may have to be scheduled to catch those pineapple beetles. Sigh! What we have to endure for our pets. Anyway, I am hoping for some good news from the birds soon.

Sent some Serama eggs to a friend last Thursday.... Hope they arrive undamaged.

Sudden Death

This is not the first time a wild bird suddenly decides that my home is a mortuary. But this wild dove decided this morning to fall down from the sky. It was still alive gasping & died moments later.

A case of poisoning? wow! this calls for sime thinking. Will try the veterinary dept. whether they accepts such cases for investigations ;)
