A Buddhist devotee brought a cage full of Spotted Dove and Peaceful Dove for release this morning. He said he has been doing it for years already. Hmmmm..... that makes me the odd Buddhist ;-)
Bought 3 pairs of Java Sparrow today. From 3 different parents. I have isolated them except a pair that I keep together. Will decide what to do with them later. They are extinct in the wild (in the state of Melaka) as far as I know.

Spent an afternoon sexing, banding and separating them. Found some nice plastic leg band in a local bird shop. Got it free, probably there is no market for leg bands in this part of the world ;-) Right leg - male, left leg - female. Need to get a log book to record it all down.
A new "mute" Zebra DOve I have been keeping since Chinese New Year. He decided to open his mouth or rather his beak last week ;-) Whew!...... thought I had a mute bird on my hand. Still young though, below 1 year old I was told. Finally patience paid off. Just wanted to try keeping young birds. This one that is yet to be named, has a deformed leg that cannot grab the perch properly.
Seems like only a deformed bird will last longer with me. Something to do with not many people wanting to keep them ;-) But being a dove, bodily feature is not that important.
The background sound is that of a local Spotted Dove.
These past few weeks has been hot like hell. Not that I have been there before hahahaha! So, bathing birds is not an option. It has become a necessity...... and the humans too ;-)
